Thank you everyone who attended or helped with our 2017 A NIGHT AT THE RACES! Over 120 people attended and had a great time raising over $11,000 to help with equipment, uniforms, and facilities for our children. Great job everyone! And special thanks to our event co-chairs: Missy Gregory and Matt Gregory (no relation) for putting together a great event!

Registration for fall sports is complete. If you are still interested in your child playing Soccer (Boys & Girls grades 4-8), Cross-Country (boys & girls grades 6-8), Volleyball (Boys & Girls grades 4-8), Football (grades 4-8), Golf (grades 6-8), Cheerleading (grades 4-8), or K-3 Soccer (Boys & Girls grades K-3), please contact the coordinator for that sport ("Fall Sports" section below)

Families of children participating in St. Michael athletics need to fulfill the Diocese of Columbus Play Like a Champion Today Parent Education requirement. The Diocese requires each family with a child participating in Diocesan Recreation sports to have at least one parent attend a Play Like a Champion Today Parent Education course before any child can participate. The goal is to further our mission of character development and faith formation through sports. The course only needs to be taken once per family, and does not need to be renewed. Families where a parent has taken "Play Like a Champion Today" Coach training are considered to have already fulfilled the requirement. This requirement is being phased in over several years; in 2017-18, every family with a participating child in 7th grade or lower must have taken the course.

We are offering two "Play Like a Champion Today" Parent Education courses in the upcoming weeks:

  • Tuesday, June 27 @7:00 pm, in the St. Michael Parish Upper Meeting Room (should be over in time to pick up your child from Soccer Camp)
  • Saturday, July 8 @8:30 am, in the St. Michael Parish Upper Meeting Room.

Course duration is 50 minutes; no cost for parents of children participating in St. Michael athletics ($10 for families whose children participate via other Parishes). No advance registration required; you will be asked to sign-in at the session. We will try to offer the course again prior to Winter sports and Spring sports, but this is a great chance to complete the requirement now.

Please contact Leo Kowalyk with any questions, etc: / 313-585-7124

Our Track, Baseball, and Softball teams had a great season to finish up the 2016-17 school year, as did our K-3 Soccer teams in their inaugural spring season! Thanks for all your support!

Interested in coaching? Interested in helping the Athletic Association but coaching isn't your thing? As always, we welcome anyone who would like to volunteer to be a head coach or assistant coach! Coaching counts for St. Michael school volunteer hours. All coaches need completed fingerprinting / background check and Protecting God's Children; head coaches also need Play Like a Champion and concussion awareness training. We can assist with these and they can all be completed in time for the fall seasons. Contact the coordinator(s) above if you are interested in coaching. Also, if you would like to do some of your St. Michael school volunteering for the Athletic Association but coaching isn't your thing, we can use help running the Athletic Association as a coordinator or with fundraising / social events or other positions. Contact Leo Kowalyk ( or Matt Gregory ( and we can help you find your niche and get you in touch with the right people.
